The Floral Dress Jumper:
Lately I’ve been seeing one of my favorite childhood pieces come back into the fashion scene: the jumper/overalls. At first, I was apprehensive about bringing this trend into my wardrobe. But once I discovered this dress in Marshalls I realized that the jumper trend didn’t need to come in just jean, it could come in any print and color. So I’m fully embracing the jumper trend for this summer season with this floral jumper dress. I love how the jumper inspired look defied the traditional floral dress. The sweet print contrasted with the jumper style cut of the dress allowed me to bring some edge to a typical girly look. I paired this FJD with a black cropped top to create some cool side and back cut outs. I finished the look with black sandals and a vintage Dooney & Bourke bag.

One of my favorite things about summer is the warm embrace the sun and bright colors into my wardrobe. Being a Seattleite, the tones of my style and outfits completely go with the seasons. In winter, I’m in blacks, greys, and dark greens. In spring, I find life in pinks and prints. And finally in summer, I fall in love with pops of bright color. For this summer season, I’m wildly attracted to the color mint and embracing the boxy trend.
Why Mint? Mint is such a sweet, feminine color. It’s such an easy way to brighten up your look, especially when its a cloudy day. I’m especially loving the hounds-tooth, tweed detailing of this mint shirt.
The Boxy Trend: I fell in love with this structured, boxy top. So in this look, I continued the boxy trend by layering this top with a high-low dress seen previously in my Winter Blues post in winter. I love mixing the new with the old and loved how the navy blue dress worked well with the mint blouse. Navy and mint aren’t a color combination you usually see together. You also don’t see much of a rigid, boxy structure, a more masculine look, worn casual and everyday. Though these two things are uncommon, it’s definitely a look that stays true to my style. I kept the look sweet by pairing a pink stone statement necklace and layering bracelets. I finished the look with black ankle boots and my vintage black leather Dooney and Bourke bag.
