One of my favorite things about summer is the warm embrace the sun and bright colors into my wardrobe. Being a Seattleite, the tones of my style and outfits completely go with the seasons. In winter, I’m in blacks, greys, and dark greens. In spring, I find life in pinks and prints. And finally in summer, I fall in love with pops of bright color. For this summer season, I’m wildly attracted to the color mint and embracing the boxy trend.
Why Mint? Mint is such a sweet, feminine color. It’s such an easy way to brighten up your look, especially when its a cloudy day. I’m especially loving the hounds-tooth, tweed detailing of this mint shirt.
The Boxy Trend: I fell in love with this structured, boxy top. So in this look, I continued the boxy trend by layering this top with a high-low dress seen previously in my Winter Blues post in winter. I love mixing the new with the old and loved how the navy blue dress worked well with the mint blouse. Navy and mint aren’t a color combination you usually see together. You also don’t see much of a rigid, boxy structure, a more masculine look, worn casual and everyday. Though these two things are uncommon, it’s definitely a look that stays true to my style. I kept the look sweet by pairing a pink stone statement necklace and layering bracelets. I finished the look with black ankle boots and my vintage black leather Dooney and Bourke bag.
