Velvet, a popular fabric in the 60s and 70s, is making a
revival in 2016. This material started popping up all over the runway and in
retailers in fall. Velvet is also here to stay for the winter season and I’m
embracing this beautiful fabric with open arms.
I found this soft,
orange velvet dress online and fell immediately in love. On warmer, milder
winter days, I’d style this dress with heeled black booties, tall black socks,
and a jean jacket. On colder winter days, I’d layer a long sleeve turtle neck
shirt under the dress, add black tights and taller boots. My favorite features
of this dress is the scalloped hem line and the beautiful orange color. I tend
to stray away from oranges and yellows, but I decided to take the risk and was
so happy that this color worked well for my skin tone! I expect velvet dresses
are to also be very popular for holiday dresses.
