Flower Power

As I child, I dreamed of being a fashion designer and a writer. So I’m not surprise that I fell into fashion blogging. With these two dreams, I also dreamed of attending NYFW. I’m so happy I was able to attend NYFW for the first time this year! Here are 5 things I took away from NYFW:

1. The weather was wild

My first two visits in New York were in the summer (when I was 12 yrs old) and the fall (just this past fall). My flight was delayed 2 days because of the snow that blew into the city. So my first day in New York, there was still a ton of snow on the ground. On my second day, it was grey and rainy. My third day was extremely windy and cold. And on my last day it there was sunshine and blue skies. The secret to getting through the wild February weather was to layer up.

2. In order to make friends, be a friend

I was lucky enough to have my friend Chelsea from Truelane introduce me to new blogger friends attending NYFW. I really enjoyed NYFW because there were a lot of people who also came to the shows on their own so I knew I wouldn’t be the only one walking in solo.  I ended up just making friends in line into shows or while I waited for shows to start. 🙂

3. There’s so many things to do!

Before my shows started in the afternoon/evening, I wanted to make the time to explore the city. There’s so much to do in New York. I absolutely loved walking around the Whitney Museum of American Art, the New York Public Library, Grand Central Station, and all the different coffee shops in the city!

4. NYFW Shows

I saw a spectrum of designers/shows throughout the 4 days I was there. I loved Georgine and Emma Viedman! I learned that Emma Viedman was the first Paraguayan designer to show at fashion week. I also saw Vavci – a designer from Dubai who had a gorgeous menswear collection.

5. Inspiration was everywhere

Besides the fashion shows, I was incredibly inspired by what everyone was wearing to fashion week. I swear everyone had gorgeous, funky, and interesting coast in New York. I feel like there was no limit to what you could wear to fashion week. From suede boots  to luxurious fur coats and vests, to studded purses and colorful lips, being around NYFW was a breath of fresh air.

I’m hoping to go to the September NYFW! I would love to go to Milan fashion week as well one day! I hope you enjoy the rest of my photos courtesy of Ashley Jacklyn.

Thank you again to Ashley Jacklyn for being an incredible new friend and taking my photos!
