Getting ready for a photo shoot? Need some ideas on how to pose in front of the camera?
Ready. Set. Pose!
Everyone has their own style and rhythm on how they pose and work in front of the camera. Some people are perfectly fine using the same one or two poses, while others never pose the same way twice. For me personally, I want to come to life in photos. I love giving a glimpse of my personality and telling a story through photos.
One way I begin my blog posts/photo series, is with the
classic blogger pose.
What is a classic blogger pose?
One pose you may have seen your favorite blogger do is a standing full body shot. He/she is either looking to your left, to your right, or straight on the camera. This pose is a staple for every fashion or lifestyle blogger.
As a blogger, I’ve probably taken hundreds, if not, a thousand photos
over my blogging career. The classic blogger pose I described is definitely is part of my posing portfolio. But personally, it has also inspired me to venture out and diversify my blog photos with more interesting poses and shots.
Aside from this classic pose, a few things I strive for in my photos are the elements of movement, symmetry, and emotion.
Here are 12 blogger poses to try at your next photo shoot:
One of the easiest ways to bring movement to your photos is to walk. Here are three different walking poses you can try!
1. Walk Towards the Camera
Simply start away from the camera and walk towards it.
2. Walk By the Camera
Have your photographer walk parallel to you. You can make the even more interesting by looking directly at the camera.

3. Just Walk Away
This is the opposite of the walk towards the camera. Start in front of the camera and walk the opposite way.

4. Lean Back (on the railing or on something)
One thing you may see in my photos is that I interact with the settings I’m in by simply leaning back.

Emma you are so photogenic! Great tips.
Such simple and straightforward advice!! Love these tips.
I'm bookmarking this! I'm SO unphotogenic, so I really need these tips.
So many great ideas! THanks!
I love these ideas! Once I grow my blog and take some photos, I'll have to come back for these ideas. Pinned!
Awesome tips! Some of these I feel I am over-using, so great to have new ideas.
Even though I'm always shooting for my blog, I feel like I do the same things all the time. Love your ideas!
I love this! I have labeled myself as a 'lifestyle' blogger, so I don't post pictures of myself all the time. However to be more personable I want to post more pictures of myself just so people can feel like they are getting to know me better. I have HUGE boobs so I feel like I am always so awkwardly trying to cover them up, or end up slouched over or something. It doesn't help that my hubby with NO camera skills is the one shooting them either! I love the advice and I will give some of these a try!
This is so genius! Thank you for posting, and I will definitely try some of these myself because i'm an awkward poser lol.
Wow I love this. It was so helpful. Definitely trying some of these poses soon!
This was so helpful and could be used for non-bloggers as well! I always just do the hand-on-the-hip pose in my pictures which ends up looking unnatural.
Looking forward to trying some new angles. Thank you!
You’re so photogenic Emma! I always struggle with how to pose in front of the camera. Definitely going to have to try some of these poses.
