The Comeback of the Dad Hat

What’s a trend to embrace into 2018? The Dad Hat – also known as the baseball cap or a 6 panel pre-curved bill. Typically this hat is unstructured and made adjustable. It’s another 90s trend coming back into style.

Like everything in fashion, what’s new is old and old is new again. We’ve seen chokers, classic sneakers, and cropped tops all come back, and now it’s the dad hats turn.

Here are 4 reasons to love the Dad Hat in 2018:

1.Dad hats work with any athleisure outfit and all your favorite trends.

Don’t be afraid to be a rule breaker in the New Year. You can wear your favorite dad hat with your favorite workout leggings AND your favorite trends: tassel earrings, vintage tshirts, and more. I wasn’t afraid to style these bold, layered bell sleeves with my classic white Adidas hat.

Here are a few outfits I would style this white Adidas hat with: Grey Sweater + Split Hem Jeans, Off the shoulder white top + jeans, and Knit Tank + Jean shorts.

2. You can personalize the dad hats with your favorite pins.

Whether you want to put a “voted pin”, or a “the future is female pin”, or just “heart and smiley face emojis” on your hat, you can be as creative as you want! I found this adorable sunglasses pin from one of my favorite Instagram accounts I follow – @sheselle!

3. Dad hats help you on a great hair day and a bad hair day.

I used to hate wearing hats because I was afraid it would mess up my hair. But the classic dad hat looks cute with your hair natural, curled, or straightened – it’s all about how you choose to style it!

4. Anybody can rock this trend – including your dad!

I’m always a fan of trends that are easy to work into your wardrobe. Regardless of who you are, you can rock the dad hat trend! I’m pretty sure my dad has been wearing the dad hat for as long as I can remember and now I’m taking inspiration from his hat collection.
