Happy Holidays everyone!
The holiday season is one of my favorite seasons of the year. And this holiday season I teamed up with the Tacoma Mall to do three of my favorite things this season: eating, shopping, and spending time with family. Since I grew up in the Federal Way/Tacoma area, I have a lot of memories going to the Tacoma Mall for back to school shopping, Christmas shopping, and even looking for homecoming dresses in high school. I even worked at the Nordstrom Tacoma mall for a summer in college! Even though the construction and freeway exits have changed over the years, the Tacoma Mall has continued to be a great mall that my family continues to go to.
Sister Day at the Tacoma Mall
So this holiday season, my sister and I decided to spend our “sister day” at Tacoma Mall. My sister Angelica and I started spending designated sister days once a month or every other month. We just keep getting busier over the years so we love spending at least one full day together. I was so excited when the Tacoma Mall invited me to do some Holiday shopping because I knew it would make a great sister day!
Brunch at the Cheesecake Factory!
My visits to the Cheesecake Factory are usually for happy hour, dinner or dessert. So I was so excited when the Cheesecake Factory invited my sister and I to brunch at the Cheesecake Factory. We started out our meal with the classic basket of bread (never too early to eat bread hehe) and strawberry lemonades. I ended up getting the eggs benedict and my sister chose the club sandwich. Even though we both were full, we made sure we had room for cheesecake of course! I got the Godiva chocolate cheesecake and my sister got the chocolate tuxedo cream cheesecake.
The food was delicious and the service was incredible! Two reasons why I love the Cheesecake Factory is their food is always consistent and the portions are huge. I’m always full and take home leftovers every time I visit the Cheesecake Factory!
Christmas Dress Shopping
After brunch, my sister and I headed into the mall to find Christmas dresses. One of my family’s Christmas traditions is the annual family photo booth! My cousin Chuck is a professional photographer so he sets up his nice camera, a tripod, and all the lights for our family. Everyone is usually dressed up in their nice clothes and we all take turns taking photos. So we needed our annual Christmas dresses!
As we wandered store to store, one thing that really stood out to us was all the décor around the mall! All the holiday décor really helped get my sister and I excited to shop. Anyways, my sister ended up finding her dress at Forever 21 and I found my red dress at Francescas!
Christmas Dress Shopping Tips:
- Don’t be afraid of some glitter and glam this season! My sister Angelica loved this mesh dress with sequins overlay. Sequins over mesh/chiffon material is a fun way to play up textures.
- Go classic with a red a dress. Power red was all over New York Fashion Week and its the perfect color for the Holiday season!
- Try a Midi/Maxi Dress even if you’re petite! It’s fun to change up the length of your dresses, especially if you tend to only wear short dresses.
- Play up the neckline of your dress. Personally, I think the off the shoulder trend is flattering for every body type. But I would also recommend trying a halter, one shoulder, or even cold shouldered dress!

If you want more Christmas/Holiday dress ideas, my friend Bailey rounded up 37 dresses from your local fashion bloggers (which includes my NYE dress from last year) to give you some ideas!
If you’re looking for a holiday dress – for a Christmas family event or for your office Holiday Party OR if you’re still shopping for Christmas gifts, the Tacoma Mall has so many great stores for the holiday shopping season! I personally always stop by Nordstrom, Forever 21, H&M, Francescas, Old Navy, and Sephora.
So thank you so much to the Tacoma Mall for inviting my sister and I to brunch and shop! We had so much fun!
