26 things I want to do at 26
Last year I shared 25 Lessons for 25 so this year I want to share 26 things I want to do at 26. It’s been a busy start to 26 so before any more days fly by, here are a few things I want to do this year.
1. Attend a hot air balloon festival.
This is at the top of my bucket list. I’ve always wanted to see a hot air balloon festival and go up on one! I’m hoping to either go to the hot air balloon festival in eastern Washington or New Mexico this year. Who wants to come with me?!
2. Visit Cape Flattery
– the most North West point in the continental United States. This place looks absolutely incredible!
3. Meet my readers/Instagram friends in real life.
I recently held my first coffee meet up at the beginning of this month. I hung out with Zoey and Lisa at a coffee shop and we talked about blogging, Instagram, and shared our tips! I’ll be planning a March meet up/coffee date soon!
If you’re interested in a coffee date in March, please reach out either by email or just by commenting on this post!
4. Start mentoring/consulting.
Through blogging and social media, I’ve learned that I’m really passionate about content creation. I really want to help other bloggers/small brands create digital content for their own websites and social media accounts. I’m not sure yet how I want to do this… I might offer one time sessions and/or 3 time sessions for a deep dive on what type of content we could produce for a channel.
If you’d be interested in content strategy/creation help, please let me know! I’m trying to get a feel for the interest in this type of work.
5. Make more videos!
I actually have a ton of fun talking into a camera and making videos. I need to dedicate more time for this! I think my favorite video I’ve made so far is 4 Tips to Help You Own It as a Microinfluencer.
6. Write more letters to people I love.
Since I write so much for Emma’s Edition, I’ve been slacking on actually writing poetry and letters to people I love. I want to get back into letter writing!
7. Learn UX.
Currently I’m in a psychology of UX class for grad school and I love it. Now that I’ve gotten the theory/psychology piece, I’m ready to learn how to be a UX designer!
8. Connect & Collaborate more with my fellow girl bosses/creatives
I want to meet more writers, photographers, graphic designers, and more. I’m always so inspired after I connect with people so I hope to meet even more creative this year.
So if any Seattle bloggers are interested in styling looks + shooting together, let me know! Or if any food bloggers want to eat together, let me know too hehe! I’ll also be traveling to LA/Palm Springs in April and Miami in May – so if any local bloggers want to get together, please let me know!
9. Have the time of my life at Coachella.
My friends and I already bought tickets. Now I need to get my life together and plan outfits, figure out how to get invited to parties, schedule a photo shoot at Palm Springs and more! If any brands, bloggers or photographers want to collaborate, please let me know!
10. Get back into yoga.
Now that I’m sitting in class for 8-10 hours a week after a 40 hour week, my back has been killing me! Ugh I need to get back into yoga to relax and stretch my body out.
11. Keep Cooking with/without Blue Apron
Brandon got a blue apron subscription for Christmas and we absolutely loved it! We actually took the time to cook together. I loved all the recipes we cooked together so I’m hoping to sign up for it again! And if we don’t we also saved all the recipe cards so hopefully we still cook during the week together!
12. Get better at cleaning out my closet.
I have so much stuff that’s come in for Emma’s Edition that I just need to get better at purging through my stuff!
13. Actually read for class.
Eek there’s been a few books that I didn’t read even though I know they would have been helpful for real life. I need to get better at reading for class.
14. Sign off on Saturdays.
Did you know that I’ve been doing my best to log off or minimally use Instagram on weekends? I like a few photos on Saturdays but I actually don’t post so I get a little break during the week. I’m usually back on Instagram full force by Sunday night though!
15. Get promoted at work.
I’m always looking to progress in my career and I want the opportunity to apply to other development programs at work. I have to be another level up to even have the ability to apply!
16. Spend time with friends and family.
I feel like this is a given but I do want to prioritize time with my family and friends. I get so caught up in the flurry of school, work, and blogging and then I realize I haven’t seen any of my friends in weeks!
17. Train for another half marathon
– possibly in the summer or fall! I didn’t get to do a half marathon this past year so I’d like to do one this year. I’d also like to take Boone on more runs! He can run all of Greenlake with me but I haven’t taken him past 3 miles yet.
18. Plan my next international trip.
I want to see Paris, Barcelona, or Lisbon next! And/or take Brandon to the Philippines and see Australia or Japan!
19. See New York during the Holidays or head to Boston or Maine with Brandon on his next work trip.
Brandon travels quite a bit to the East Coast. I’m hoping I can tag along to some of his trips this year!
20. Add either an “Ask Emma” section to the blog and/or do more style challenges with all of you!
Let me know if you have a preference to either idea! Or want to see both!
21. Experiment more with makeup.
I have my basics down but I’d really like to learn how to be more comfortable doing my eye shadow or learning how to contour!
22. Triple the amount of readers/visitors on Emma’s Edition.
Currently I have 2000 of you coming to Emma’s Edition every month. My goal this year is to invite and engage with 6000 unique visitors!
23. Make the most out of my graduate program.
This includes connecting with cohort members, taking classes out of my comfort zone, and more!
24. End each day with gratitude.
Either by writing it down or talking about it with my Brandon, Boone, my family or friends.
25. Express more love & kindness to those around me
– because we are what we express into the world!
26. Be kind to myself
I honestly feel like I’m my own biggest critic sometimes and I get so hard on myself about school, work, and blogging. I think kindness begins with being kind to ourselves. And this is something I will continue to work on! This are the 26 things I want to do at 26!
Thank you to Shoes of Prey for the new pair of white heels!
I wear a size 5 and these heels fit me perfectly. I love how I was able to design and customize the heel height, the colors of the strap, soles, and the entire shoe. If you want to create your own pair of heels or sneakers, head over to Shoes of Prey and start designing your pair of shoes.
If you want to add a FREE custom inscription to your shoes,
like your name or a mantra inside your shoes – you can use the promo code: EMMASEDITION!
What are some things do you want to do this year? Do you have 26 things or a number of things you want to do?

Happy birthday! I love your meet up idea! What fun!
Love your shoes, and so excited about Coachella!! Can’t wait to see you! xx
You are an inspiration Emma and I love that you have so much gusto to do a lot of things and experience them. Kudos! I think sometimes it’s easy to get used to the routine but always thinking outside the box is always a must. Love your list and your outfit. As always you look beautiful. Happy belated birthday and I hope you had a wonderful day and here’s to a spectacular year! 🍾🍾🍾
