Fall is officially one month away (the first day of fall is September 22nd)! Even though summer is my favorite season, fall is my second. I love fall because New York Fashion Week kicks of September, then it’s the start of the school year, football season, and cozy sweaters!
If you’re looking to refresh your wardrobe with fall trends, this blog post is for you! Here are 9 fall trends to wear with your pumpkin spice lattes!
9 Fall Trends to Add to Your Wardrobe
Fall Trend Alert #1: The Clear Bag
[show_shopthepost_widget id=”3249642″]
Transparency is always on trend and I’m personally such a fan of the clear bag. I first got this adorable clear bag with white accents after a Seattle Business Babes event. This bag was designed to chill your wine on the go.
I was getting ready to shoot in Tacoma with my photographer/friend Holly when I saw this gift bag next to the rest of my purses. I love unique pieces to incorporate into my everyday style so I grabbed the bag and styled it with two different looks. This clear bag has made plenty of appearances on my Instagram feed and also made an appearance on Seattle’s Most Instagrammable Places: Capitol Hill blog post!

Fall Trend Alert #2: Ruched Tops and Dresses
[show_shopthepost_widget id=”3249640″]
First of all what is ruching? Ruching is when a garment has elasticized bands that bunch the fabric together to create waves of texture. Basically tops and dresses with ruching detail have bunched up bodices and hug the frame. Ruched tops are also called smocked tops. I added a handful of ruched tops and dresses to my summer wardrobe. I predict that ruched blouses and dresses are also here to stay for fall!
I’m in the lookout for maxi dresses and long sleeve blouses with ruching details. You can check out this full summer to fall outfit here: Will this college class actually help me in real life?

Fall Trend Alert #3: Classic Logo T-shirts

I first shared my favorite Levi’s Classic Tee after my trip to the Oregon Coast. I’m taking this classic tee with me into the school year and my weekend wardrobe! I’ll be styling my favorite logo tee with boyfriend jeans, boots, and a utility jacket!
Fall Trend Alert #4: Polka Dots
[show_shopthepost_widget id=”3249637″]
I’m so excited for the comeback of polka dots! Believe it or not, polka dots have been around since the late 1840s. Polka dots have been a part of almost every decade since – rising to popularity in the 1920s, soaring through the 30s, 40s, and 50s.
I personally haven’t worn polka dots since I was a kid so I was so excited to bring this iconic print back into my wardrobe. There’s something playful and chic about polka dots. This print can be worn at work, at fashion week, and even on the weekends.
If you really want to be trendy, mix and matching different polka dot colors and polka dot sizes. You can also see this full polka dotted dress here: 4 Ways Blogging Has Helped My Corporate Career.

Fall Trend Alert #5: Scrunchies/Scarves for your Hair
[show_shopthepost_widget id=”3249635″]
I started seeing hair accessories like scrunchies and hair scarves at the beginning of summer. I’m excited to bring these two trends into my fall wardrobe!
Fall Trend Alert #6: Plaid Everything
[show_shopthepost_widget id=”3249646″]
Plaid blazer was hot last fall and winter season. I’m predicting that there is still a place for plaid this fall. Whether you’re ready to embrace the 90s with a plaid skirt or add a plaid blazer to your wardrobe, there’s so many ways to wear plaid this summer!

Fall Trend Alert #7: Statement Skirts

I’m seeing more and more skirts at every length make their way into my Instagram and twitter feeds. Whether you love mini, midi, or maxi skirts, or you love ruffles, layering, silk, or ruching, add a skirt to your fall wardrobe!

Fall Trend Alert #8: The Net/Woven Produce Bag
[show_shopthepost_widget id=”3250809″]
I started seeing this trend during spring, it came full force this summer, and I predict it’ll have a place in our summer to fall wardrobe transition. The produce bag actually is a great travel bag – you can bunch it into a small ball to pack into a carry on and then break it out if you need it! I’ve traveled with mine through California and Miami!
If you want a sturdier bag, I would go with a woven bag. It will probably be more durable and just as stylish!

Fall Trend Alert #9: Animal Print
[show_shopthepost_widget id=”3249636″]
Whether you love the snakeskin or leopard print, animal print is making its way back into the fall scene. I would recommend adding in an animal print shoe, bag, or scarf if you’re a little apprehensive to add this back into your wardrobe. I have yet to add anything animal printed but may add a shoe or scarf this upcoming season.
