Happy New Year friends! I feel like so much happened in 2018 and I’m excited for what 2019 is going to bring in for Emma’s Edition, my career, and my personal life. Today I’ll be sharing with you the goals I accomplished in 2018 and my goals I’ve for Emma’s Edition in 2019.

In 2018, a few of my most important blogging goals included:

  1. Driving over 10,000 unique page views a month. And at the end of this year, I’m averaging between 12,000-13,000 unique sessions a month. (I share my tips on: How do you drive blog traffic to your blog?)
  2. Filing as a business as a blogger. I made my first four figure brand collaboration and I realized I really needed to file as a business. You can read more about why I decided to file Emma’s Edition as a LLC.
  3. And hit over 20,000 followers on Instagram.

Here are 5 Main Goals I have for Emma’s Edition in 2019:

Emma’s Edition in 2019 Goal #1: Focus more on Pinterest

At the beginning of this month I finally converted my Emma’s Edition Pinterest Page into a business account. I started pinning more of my outfits in the summer and my friend Karya encouraged me to change over to a business account. I’m a little embarrassed that it took me this long to prioritize Pinterest, but in 2019 I’m making it one of my main priorities.

Here’s why I’m focusing on Pinterest in 2019:

I only have 139 followers on Pinterest but I drive over 188,000 views a month. I was shook when I saw how much traffic my Pinterest drove. I took a deeper dive into my Google Analytics and found that Pinterest drove 59% of my social traffic while Instagram only drives 16%.

Even though Instagram is my biggest social platform, my Pinterest converts more views to my blog. I know that Pinterest is going to be vital for Emma’s Edition in 2019!

Emma’s Edition in 2019 Goal #2: Focus on IGTV

Since I started Emma’s Edition in 2014, one of the most consistent requests I get is to create more videos. I started a YouTube channel last year but haven’t done a great job I keeping it up. My goal is to make at least 1-2 IGTVs a month.

You’ll be seeing uncut, unedited IGTV videos of me talking about fashion, career, blogging, and whatever else is happening in my life. When I graduate from my master’s program this June, I’ll take a more aggressive focus on video. But until then, you’ll definitely see more IGTVs from me.

Emma’s Edition in 2019 Goal #3: Testing my blog post publishing frequency

In 2018 I was dedicated and focused on publishing at least two blog post every single week. In 2019, I may decrease my posting frequency to once a week so I have time to produce an IGTV video and also focus on promoting the blog post on Pinterest and other platforms.

The truth is I spent so much of 2018 creating new content every single week that I didn’t spend much energy promoting it. While I shared my new blog post on Instagram, I really could have taken the time to Pin the heck out of it. So you’ll be seeing me testing what the right amount of blog post looks like per month.

Emma’s Edition in 2019 Goal #4: More travel content

In 2018, I shared my adventures at Coachella #Beychella 2018, New York Fashion Week, Glamping in the Willamette Valley with Oregon Wine Travel, and Pittsburgh with Alaska Airlines. I had SO MUCH FUN traveling this year and I’m super excited for all the adventures planned in 2019.

Here’s what’s on the itinerary:

  1. March: Texas, San Francisco, and Yosemite National Park
  2. July: Japan, Philippines, and maybe Singapore
  3. September: New York Fashion Week

One thing you’ll definitely see from my travel adventures are the Most Instagrammable Places in each city I visit! I loved creating 10 Most Instagrammable Places in NYC to See and also Most Instagrammable Places in Seattle: Capitol Hill!

Emma’s Edition in 2019 Goal #5: More Career/Finances Content

Blogging is still my side hustle and I spend 40 hours a week at the office as an aerospace project manager. I majored in business in undergrad and have always had a passion for career growth and development. While I’ve shared heavily about my blogging experience so far in 2018, I’m hoping to share the lessons I’ve learned in my career and finances more in 2019.

I’m excited to share tips on navigating your promotion in 2019 and how to improve your LinkedIn. I’m also excited to open up about how I balance my student debt with saving as well how my relationship with money has changed as I’ve gotten older.

There you have it friends. My 5 main goals in 2019. I’ll still share lessons I learned throughout my blogging journey (as I learn them) and I still plan on posting on Instagram once a day and using Instagram Stories. But in 2019, I know that to take my blog and brand to the next level, I have to look beyond Instagram for my success.

What are some of your goals for 2019?
