Hi I’m Emma and if I wasn’t a fashion/lifestyle blogger, I’d
definitely be a FOOD BLOGGER. I love finding new places to eat. I love brunch
and I have a really bad sweet tooth. As I’ve created Instagrammable Guides for
Seattle, I’ve found some really amazing places to eat and figured out to pose
with food. So today I wanted to share all the fun ways you can pose with food
for Instagram!
If you’re looking to improve your posing skills for Instagram or are interested incorporating cute food pictures, this blog post is for you! I’m sharing 8 posing ideas with your favorite desserts and other food!

Ways to Pose with Food #1: Hold out the ice cream cone in
front of you
Molly Moon’s Ice Cream

I’ve tried posing while eating an ice cream cone and it looked kind of funny… so I’ve found it’s a lot cuter if you hold the ice cream cone in front of you. You can smile and highlight your yummy ice cream cone without looking awkward.

Ways to Pose with Food #2: Hold up the milkshake or the drink at chest level
Like ice cream, I’ve found that it looks awkward to actually drink your milkshake or iced coffee in photos. I tend to hold it close to my mouth or around chest level but not actually take a drink for Instagram photos.

Ways to Pose with Food #3: Hold the cookie or the doughnut in front of one eye and smile
This is one of my favorite ways to pose with food! If you
scroll through my Instagram feed, you’ve probably seen this pose over and over
again. I don’t know why I started doing this…but the pose is easy to do and the
photo always ends up cute so I keep doing it!
Here are a few ways I’ve posed with food on Instagram on my blog:
Raised Doughnuts

I first featured Raised Doughnuts in my Seattle’s Most Instagrammable Desserts blog post. I love their doughnuts and their neon sign inside their store!
Hello Robin

Cupcake Royale

Ways to Pose with Food #4: Pretend you’re about to take a
bite
Cupcake Royale
If you don’t want to get chunks of food in your mouth, just pretend to take a bite of the cupcake!

Ways to Pose with Food #5: Slightly angle your phone to
capture you and your brunch spread
Rockcreek Seafood & Spirits
Brunch is absolutely my favorite meal of the day. I’ve taken so many brunch pictures over the years! I’ve even rounded up 10 Places to Eat Brunch in Seattle to highlight some of my favorites.
Ways to Pose with Food #6: Eat the fries!
Five Guys Burger
While I don’t usually recommend eating and taking photos at the same time, I have posed while eating French fries before. Fries are smaller, easier to eat, and they don’t typically get stuck in your teeth!

Ways to Pose with Food #7: Hold your bowl of poke up with
your chopsticks
Poke is one of my favorite food! I took this photo at Poke Lover in Ballard but I also recommend: 45th Stop & Shop in Wallingford, Beyond the Bowl in Lake City, and Fremont Bowl in Fremont.

Ways to Pose with Food #8: Keep your coffee on the table
It can be awkward to lift your full coffee cup up if you’re trying to take multiple photos. I’ve found that it’s easier to take coffee shop photos when you keep your iced or hot coffee on the table.

You are so photogenic! I need to practice some of this.
Your Insta-guides are always so fun and helpful! Love this!
I absolutely loved this! I recently came across your blog as a recommendation from another blogger and these are such great tips. I’m so terrible at posing and usually avoid it as a result, but I’ll need to give it a try again. You make it look so effortless! Just curious: Do you feel uncomfortable when people are staring at you taking portraits? That’s what usually stops me and I’d love to know how you’ve overcome that!
I love all these tips and tricks for posting on Instagram. I always want to take cute photo when out and about but then I have absolutely no clue on what to do, lol. Definitely love the donut/cookie/cupcake over one eye. SO CUTE!

Emma, you make food look good! I tried putting a donut in front of my face and that was a total fail! I’ll have to try that one again perhaps I should start small with a macaroon?

Definitely adding these the next time I shoot with my photographer! Hopefully I won’t look so awkward with food in my hands hahaha
