Are you looking for winter posing ideas or winter photo shoot inspiration? Here are a few winter poses you can try during your winter photo shoot!
I’ve been having so much fun creating Holiday and winter content with my friend Maddy that I thought I should put together a blog post about how we’re posing for Instagram this winter season. Maddy and I have traveled to Leavenworth, Snoqualmie Pass, and Swanson’s Nursery in Greenwood to create holiday and winter photos.
Whether you’re preparing for winter senior photos or a winter couples photo shoot, I hope this blog post gives you a few ideas on how to pose this winter!
Here are 7 winter posing ideas you can try:
1. Looking up in the snow
One easy way to pose in the snow is to look up at it. If you’ve grown up in a place that gets snow during the winter, you might have memories playing in the snow as a kid. One thing I always did as a kid was look up at the sky when it started snowing. I remember looking at the sky in awe.
Looking up towards the sky while it’s snowing is a pose and photo people can relate to.
2. Throwing Christmas ornaments
For a fun winter pose, I recommend throwing your Christmas ornaments towards the camera. Maddy bought a whole case of plastic ornaments so we weren’t afraid to toss the ornaments into the air. It took us a few shots to capture this photo. You can also mix in standing up and kneeling down as you throw Christmas ornaments towards the camera.
3. Twirling in the snow
Maddy and I were so excited to create 12 Days of Christmas for Instagram this season. Before we shot our two turtledoves’ photo, we ended up taking a few photos twirling in the snow.
If you want to add a winter prop and accessory, I would recommend adding a blanket scarf! Twirling with your scarf helps add movement to your photo and also helps break up all the white (snow) in the frame.
4. Putting the ornaments up on the tree
Whether you decide to decorate your Christmas tree in your living room or you decide to find an evergreen tree outside, putting ornaments on the tree is an easy winter pose.
Maddy and I used this winter pose for our first day of Christmas/partridge in a pear tree. We picked a tree out at Gold Creek pond to put our ornaments up.
5. Showing off your holiday nails
I was so excited to partner with my friends at Varnish Nails for a holiday manicure. I’m obsessed with my Rudolph the red nose reindeer nail!
If you’re looking to get your nails done this holiday season, check out Varnish Nails in SODO. They specialize in nail art. I’ve always taken nail inspiration photos from Pinterest and brought it into the nail salon. They always make my nail ideas happen!
6. Covering one eye with an ornament
You’ve probably seen this pose on 8 Ways to Pose with Food, but you can switch out your macaron with an ornament. I don’t know why this pose works but it always turns out so cute!
7. Shopping for a Christmas Tree
Maddy and I stopped by Swanson’s Nursery in Greenwood at the beginning of December. We loved the room full of Christmas trees! We walked through the rows of Christmas trees for sale for these photos.
There you have it friends! Winter poses you can use for Instagram, senior photos, or a winter photo shoot.
