It’s the most wonderful time of the year! My Christmas
lights are hung, I’ve started shopping for gifts for friends and family, and
I’m gearing up for all the holiday parties.

Holiday Outfit #1: Ugly Christmas Sweater Party

If you’re heading to an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party this
holiday season, you have to stop by Value Village. Value Village always does a
great job showcasing the ugly Christmas sweaters in one area. You can find ugly
Christmas sweaters that people have made and also bought in stores and donated.

I was so excited when I found this cropped Christmas sweater
on the rack. It’s originally from J. Crew and it’s perfect for the Holiday
season. I styled my ugly Christmas sweater with this festive headband I also
picked up from Value Village.

What’s one tip for finding an ugly Christmas sweater?

Don’t be afraid of sizes. I think this J. Crew sweater was
donated because it shrunk in the wash/dryer. But cropped sweater actually fit
me perfectly!

I’ve also seen great oversized ugly Christmas sweaters on
the rack. Don’t be afraid of buying a size up because you can always style the
sweater with leggings or put a belt around your waist.

Holiday Outfit #2: Holiday Party – Dressy

Have you ever bought a dress for an occasion and only worn
it once or twice? I have! And I’m guilty of buying a new dress for holiday
parties and maybe only wearing the dress one more time before I donate it.

This year I decided to buy my holiday party dress at Value Village. I found this ASTR the label dress (you can normally buy this brand at Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack) in my size! It’s in great condition and I wouldn’t be surprised if the person who bought this only wore it once or twice for a party.

If a short red dress isn’t your style, here are a few other
holiday dress outfit ideas you can try:

Midi or maxi pleated skirts and either a white
or printed blouse
A little black dress – this is always in style!
If you’re heading to a work holiday party, you can always add a blazer to make
it work appropriate.
A jumpsuit
A sequin skirt and long sleeve blouse

Holiday Outfit #3: Holiday Party – Casual

There are a lot of friend get togethers that happen during
the Holiday season. My friends usually throw some sort of potluck together
either before or after Christmas. These get togethers are usually casual, but
still festive.

I found the perfect easy holiday sweater at my last trip to
Value Village. I loved the colorful but festive print across this simple white
sweater!

Here are a few tips for finding a thrifted Holiday or winter sweater at Value Village:

Look out for pilling on your sweater

Pills are the tiny knots or fuzzes you might see on a sweater. Pillage is caused by broken fibers on the fabric that end up tangling or coming together in a tiny ball. If there’s some pillage, you can always shave them off with a disposable razor. But if the sweater is really worn out and covered in pilling, I would leave it on the rack.

Don’t worry about the smells

I wouldn’t be discouraged from a sweater smelling like the thrift store. You can always throw it in the wash or get it dry cleaned to get the smell removed. If the sweater has a pungent smell and you don’t think you can wash it out, pass on the sweater.

Don’t worry about sizes

I’ve bought sweaters smaller than my size and sweaters up my size. Sometimes I want to go for the cropped sweater look and other times I want to go for the oversized sweater look. You can find a great oversized sweater or cardigan by shopping other sizes!

Holiday Outfit #4: New Year’s Eve Dress

When I think of New Year’s Eve, I think of glitter, glam,
and glitz. I usually look for a sparkly dress for New Year’s Eve. I was so
excited when I found this Fashion Nova dress hanging on the dress racks. I
haven’t worn a long sleeve dress for New Year’s Eve before, but this dress fit
me perfectly!
