Are you looking for Instagram worthy spots in Issaquah? Here are a few places to check out in Issaquah!

A few weekends ago, my friend Maddy and I drove out to explore Issaquah. I usually pass Issaquah heading over to Eastern Washington and it’s not a town a visit often. Maddy and I knew there was a vintage gas station in the city so we wanted to take a day trip to find fun photo locations in Issaquah. Maddy and I have done a ton of exploring within Seattle so we were excited to venture out our usual neighborhoods outside the city.
Where is Issaquah?
Issaquah is located about 20-25 min outside Downtown Seattle. According to Issaquahwa.gov, the Native Americans called this area Squak. Issaquah was incorporated as a town in 1892 and officially changed its name in 1899.
Here are 6 of Issaquah’s Most Instagrammable Places
1. Historic Hailstone Feed Store & Shell Gas Station
Address: 232 Front Street North Issaquah WA 98027

In 2003, the Downtown Issaquah Association worked with the city and volunteers to restore this building to its 1944 appearance. This building may have actually been here since the 1890s. This Shell Gas Station is no longer active but this space is available to rent on an hourly basis.
2. The Owl Cigar Advertisement
Address: 232 Front Street North Issaquah WA 98027

During the restoration process of the building, the group discovered the Owl Cigar sign painted behind the building. This advertisement would have been visible to the train passengers leaving or coming into Issaquah at the time.

3. The Triple XXX Rootbeer
Address: 98 NE Gilman Blvd, Issaquah, WA 98027

If you’re looking for 1950’s style hamburgers and shakes, you have to check out the XXX restaurant in Issaquah. This Triple XXX is only one of two operating drive-ins operating in the United States (the other one is in Lafayette, Indiana). This specific restaurant originally opened in the 1960s.

4. The Moroccan Door
Address: 130 E Sunset Way, Issaquah, WA 98027

Did you know that Issaquah has a sister city in Chefchaouen, Morocco? This door was gift to the city and is located outside Issaquah’s City Hall.

5. Suds Shop Laundromat
Address: 25 E Sunset Way, Issaquah, WA 98027

The Suds Shop Laundromat wasn’t originally in our list of places to shoot in Issaquah. But it’s located just a few min walking distance from Issaquah’s City Hall and Issaquah Depot Museum. I thought the Laundromat storefront was so cute! I had to snap a few photos.

6. Issaquah Depot Museum
Address: 78 1st Ave NE, Issaquah, WA 98027

Did you know Issaquah’s Depot Museum was built in 1889? Today it’s a museum that shows advancements in the industrial revolution – like the telegraph.

There are actually a few more places on my list that I’d like to explore and photograph in Issaquah! So stay tuned for an update to Issaquah’s Most Instagrammable Places.
