Summer is in full swing in the Pacific Northwest and I’m loving every minute of it. One trend I’ve especially been loving are halter necklines and halter dresses.
What is a halter neckline?
A halter neckline is a style for women’s clothing where a strap or piece of fabric is tied behind the neck.
We’re most familiar with halter tops being swimsuits. While halter tops and dresses aren’t new to 2020, I’m seeing this neckline make a splash beyond the beach or pool. Halter necklines are coming in as crop tops, blouses, and everyday dresses.
Who can wear a halter neckline?
If you’re looking for a way to showcase your shoulders, a halter dress or top is for you! This specific neckline works for a lot of different body types. According to Stitch Fix, a halter neckline can create a balancing effect as it draws the eyes upward. Stitch Fix also recommends that a halter dress or top is best for body types with wide shoulders or a straight or hourglass mid-section.

Personally, I picked up this dress from American Eagle Outfitters pretty early on into the Stay at Home Order. I didn’t have anywhere to wear it but I wanted an easy day dress to wear and I didn’t have any dresses like this.
So I was pretty excited when my county in Washington State stepped into Phase 2 and we could meet with 5 people outside of our household! Maddy and I planned a day trip to Issaquah and I packed this dress me! You can also see this dress featured in Issaquah’s Most Instagrammable Places.
