This blog post was made in collaboration with UrbanStems and all my opinions are my own.

It’s been an entire year since Brandon proposed at the Snoqualmie River. We’re celebrating our one-year engagement with UrbanStems.

Last fall, Brandon surprised me by getting down on one knee during a hike near Snoqualmie Falls. Our original plan was to get married at the end of September 2020, but due to the pandemic, we decided to postpone our wedding to next May 2021. Even though our wedding plans have changed, we still have so much to celebrate this year.

Here are a few things we’re celebrating:

We bought our first house together.

We decided to switch up our timeline and buy a house this year since we moved out our wedding to next year. We started house hunting in June and were fortunate to find and move into our first house by the end of August.

Despite the pandemic, the greater Seattle real estate market is actual up from last year. We were shocked how competitive the market was. We were thankful to close on the second home we put an offer on.

We’re in good health.

This year has taught us to not take our health for granted. I was actually in a bad burn out cycle from fall of last year to the end of winter this year. When everything shut down in spring and my office went virtual, I was able to break my burn out cycle. Since I was commuting two hours a day or dealing with the stress in the office, I got my running routine back. I also got to spend more time with Brandon and Boone.

It’s been a challenging year and every facet of life. Both Brandon and I have continued to prioritize our health – both physically and mentally.

I’ve taken Emma’s Edition full-time.

Brandon and I knew that I would take my content creation full-time in the near future. My original timeline was to take my blog and Instagram full-time next summer. But after 6 years in the aerospace industry, I received a lay-off notice. I was fortunate enough to be extended 3 other offers at my company. But after a lot of reflection and tears, I realized this fall that it was my time to take my passions full-time.

I couldn’t have done it with the support of my friends, family, and of course Brandon. I truly appreciate Brandon’s love and support as I transition from a corporate career to a creative one.

To celebrate our one-year engagement, we’ve also partnered with UrbanStems.

Our gifted bouquets from UrbanStems were perfect for our one-year engagement photos.
