Are you looking for Christmas or holiday photo shoot ideas for you and your family? Here are a few places you can take photos at home this holiday season.

1.Underneath the Christmas tree

If you’ve set up your Christmas tree, use it as a photo backdrop! Even if you decide to light your Christmas tree during the daytime, the Christmas lights will still twinkle and add some holiday sparkle to your photos. My friend Maddy and I actually snapped these Christmas tree photos the first weekend of November. So by December, we were ready to switch our Instagram feeds over to holiday content.
2.Hang out in your bed online shopping

One thing I’ve been doing a lot of these days is online shopping for my friends and family’s gifts! I’ve been spending lots of time in my guest room/office. We currently have an air mattress in here, but I’ve been having so much fun decorating it for photo shoots. I used the garland ($4/each from Target) to create this simple design. I used push pins to pin it to the wall and I added the ornaments.
3. In front of the garage with wrapping paper

If you need to create a holiday photo shoot for a brand collaboration last minute, use a neutral background like your garage door and add some holiday prints with wrapping paper. I literally stood outside and snapped these photos. You can also switch out the wrapping paper with a wreath.

4. In front of your door with your wreath
My wreath has been one of my most used holiday props this year. I’ve used it in my guest room, and I’ve used it in front of my garage. But the majority of this holiday season, it’s hung up in our front door.

5. On your bed writing Christmas cards

Another fun holiday photo shoot idea at home is to write Christmas cards in bed! I worked with Stitch Fix x Society6 on an Instagram campaign this December. I loved showing off the designs and incorporating a fun prop (Santa’s mailbox). These holiday cards are designed by diverse female artists.
You can also pretend to mail cards into Santa’s mailbox:

6. Hangout at the back of your car (in your driveway)

One at-home holiday photo shoot idea was from my friend Maddy! She wanted to set up a photo shoot at the back of a SUV. We opened her family’s SUV, added blankets, presents, and grabbed our (empty) Starbucks cups and started snapping these photos.

7. Sit in front of the fireplace
If you’re hanging stockings and decorating your fireplace for the holiday season, use it as a backdrop for your holiday photos! Maddy and I had so much fun getting dressed in Christmas pajamas. This was our comfiest photo shoot this holiday season!

8. Bake Christmas cookies
This at-home holiday photo shoot idea came from Maddy! I brought the sugar cookie dough and Maddy brought her mixing bowl and rolling pin. We filled the frame by adding candy canes, a cookbook, and our Christmas mugs.
