Are you curious to see what a full-time content creator schedule looks like? While every influencer has a different schedule, here’s an inside look to my Sunday-Saturday schedule.

My Weekly Schedule as a Full-Time Content Creator - full-time influencer - influencer tips - becoming an influencer - Emma's Edition

When I got laid off at the end of last summer, I was ready to take content creation full time, but I also wasn’t sure what my schedule was going to look like. Coming from corporate America, I was surprised that I still followed a similar 9-5 schedule.

But one of the biggest differences in my schedule as a full-time content creator is that I’m able to have my whole morning routine and also take my workout breaks. Monday-Friday, I start every morning the same: walking my dog, eating breakfast, taking the time to read and journal. And every day, I also get a workout in. I’m currently training for a half marathon right now so I’m rotating long runs between 4-6 miles with at home yoga and light weight arm workout YouTube videos.

I’ve found that I’m infinitely happier when I’m able to balance out my workday with physical and mental breaks – something that I didn’t feel like I could do in my previous role in aerospace.

Here is a daily breakdown of my weekly schedule as a full-time content creator:

Sunday:

Content Creation

One routine that I’ve kept with me from grad school and working full-time is preparing for the week ahead on Sunday afternoons or evenings. I’m less stressed when I:

  • Plan my entire feed for the week using Planoly
  • Write all my captions for the week for Instagram in a Microsoft Word document
  • Brainstorm and/or outline my blog posts for the week

When I prepare my content on Instagram at the very beginning of the week, I can focus on publishing the content then engaging with my community. When I don’t take the time to prep ahead, I’m way more stressed trying to write a caption and select the photo that I want to publish next.

While planning out your next 7 days of images and videos and writing 7+ captions might sound overwhelming, it’s totally possible once you’ve laid out your content plan and strategy. Each piece of content I produce during the week is alignment with my mission statement: inspiring the modern woman to create and travel in style.

Each photo, each caption, each reel or TikTok, also falls into one of my content pillars: content creation (posing, influencer tips or lessons, Content Creatives Podcast), style (seasonal outfit ideas), and travel (Instagrammable places in various cities). I make sure my captions, blog posts, and podcast episodes hit each content pillar for each week.

If you’re looking to build an engaged audience, I highly recommend getting super clear about your content strategy and taking the time to lay out your content plan! I also recommend my latest course: Build an Engaged Audience with Your Content Plan & Strategy. The course is $200 and it helps you:

  • Build out your brand strategy (mission statement + content pillars)
  • Lay out your audience strategy (identify your target audience + their needs)
  • Shows you what type of content you can create for your brand & audience
  • Builds out your 7-day content plan
  • Teaches you how to do a content audit so you can see if your audience is resonating with the content you’re creating!

Monday:

Publish Content:

Since I planned out my feed for the week and already wrote my captions, I can focus on publishing content and engaging on my platforms. Here’s what that looks like for me:

  • I publish captions, photos, and stories on Instagram
  • I engage between 30 min-2 hours a day on Instagram
  • I write, edit, and publish blog posts to http://www.emmasedition.com
  • I pin photos from my blog post to Pinterest
  • I post TikToks

While it might sound like I’m just posting on social media, it does take quite a bit of work to be posting consistently and on a daily basis!

Brand Collaborations:

Since I’m self-represented (I don’t have a manager or agency managing, pitching, or negotiating my brand partnerships), I spend a lot of time as a project manager or account manager for my brand partnerships. I’m the sole point of contact for public relations (PR) agencies, influencer agencies, and brands.

Here are some of my main responsibilities I do on Mondays (and the rest of the week)

  • Email brands on various stages of brand partnerships
  • Negotiate new brand partnerships for the next month or quarter
  • Write social or blog copy for upcoming brand partnerships that month
  • I submit content (images, videos, stories, copy/captions) to my brand partners for approval
  • Or I submit revised content for approval

Tuesday:

Content Creatives Podcast

I’m not just a blogger or an influencer, I’m also a podcast co-host! Here are my weekly responsibilities for the Content Creatives Podcast:

  • Publish the latest podcast episode on Buzzsprout so it can be distributed across all the podcast networks
  • Publish and share the newest podcast episode on our Facebook group and Facebook Page
  • Publish and share the newest podcast episode on Instagram + IG stories
  • Create and send the newest weekly newsletter with the podcast episode
  • Write the next two podcast episode outlines and upload it to Trello

Publish Content:

Aside from my podcast responsibilities, I’m publishing content across my platforms on a daily basis. Again, my responsibilities from before:

  • I publish captions, photos, and stories on Instagram – if this is a sponsored post, I review the updated and approved caption, images, and stories. I re-send myself the approved caption and the required Instagram story tags.
  • I engage between 30 min-2 hours a day on Instagram
  • I jump on stories and share life updates, podcast episodes, or blog posts
  • I post at least one TikTok a day

Wednesday:

Content Creatives Podcast

Maddy and I record two episodes a week (one full length episode and one mini-sode). We always record on Wednesdays at Maddy’s house.

  • I commute to Maddy’s house – Depending on traffic, this takes me between 35 min-1 hour one way.
  • We record two podcast episodes
  • We discuss potential podcast guests for the next month or quarter
  • Right now, we’re looking at rebranding so we’ve been talking a lot about that

I publish our mini-sode for the week. We recently started posting mini-sodes to answer community questions as well as give additional tips around brand partnerships, media kits, pitching, and more!

Here are a few mini-sodes I’ve written the outlines, recorded with Maddy, and published:

Brand Collaborations:

  • Email brands on various stages of brand partnerships
  • Send invoices and W9s to wrap up brand campaigns

Saturday: Photo Shoots

At least once a week, I have a photo shoot scheduled. If I’m shooting with Maddy and Sam, we plan out photo shoots on the weekends. We usually shoot 3+ outfits every time we get together.

If we’re batching seasonal content, we usually block out the entire day to shoot content. Our days can look like:

  • Driving to multiple photo shoot locations. Example: If we’re shooting in Redmond, we might start at Redmond Town Center, then head to Molly Moon’s Ice Cream, and then end at Marymoor Park.
  • Setting up creative photo shoot concepts indoors either at my house or Maddy’s house
  • Changing in the car
  • Stopping for a snack

There you have it friends – a somewhat detailed overview of my weekly schedule as a full-time content creator! What questions do you have about doing content creation full-time?
