I can’t believe that it’s been over a year since I’ve traveled and created an Instagrammable places guide. I went from traveling at least once a month and creating Instagram guides for cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New Orleans. And then the pandemic hit, and all of my travels stopped for a year.
I’m excited the world is slowly opening up. Right now (spring 2021), the CDC recommends that travelers have a negative covid-19 test (if you aren’t fully vaccinated) before traveling to their destination. I recommend reading the CDC Domestic Travel Guidelines and the state/city guidelines before you hop on an airplane to your destination.
To travel safely, I got covid-19 test from King County and confirmed that I tested negative for the virus before I got on an airplane. I also wore two masks to be safe and frequently washed my hands or used hand sanitizer. Masks are required for the airport and the airlines.

Austin Motel
Address: 1220 S Congress Ave Austin TX 78704
If you’re looking to stay at the South Congress neighborhood, I recommend checking out the Austin Motel. The Austin Motel is in a great location. You can walk to coffee shops, dinner spots, and shopping from the hotel. Plus, the motel has free parking for guests. My sister and I booked the Deluxe King room.
Jo’s Coffee (South Congress location)
Address: 1300 S Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704
Since we stayed at Austin Motel, we stopped Jo’s Coffee to start our day. Jo’s Hot Coffee Good Food has several locations but if you’re looking for this mural, make sure you stop by the South Congress location. I picked up an iced mocha and it was delicious.
Tau Ceti
Address: E 2nd St &, Brazos St, Austin, TX 78701
One of my favorite Instagram stops in Downtown Austin is Tau Ceti. It’s located at the Austin Convention Center Second Street Parking Garage. The color spectrum is 103 feet tall. We parked at the garage and walked right up to the art installation.
Blanton Museum of Art
Address: 200 E Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Austin, TX 78712
If you’re wanting to stop by the University of Texas at Austin, I recommend stopping Blanton Museum of Art. We didn’t get to go into the museum since we went right as it closed at 5pm, but we did get to snap a few photos. I also recommend parking at the Brazos garage. We parked at the garage and then walked through campus to get to the museum.
Pavement Modern & Recycled
Address: 611 S Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78704
We visited two different Pavement locations while we stopped by Austin. We picked up awesome secondhand pieces from both spots! Plus, both Pavement’s we stopped by were so fun and colorful.

Taquero Mucho
Address: 508 West Ave, Austin, TX 78701
If you’re looking for an Instagram worthy taco spot in Austin, I highly recommend checking out Taquero Mucho. The food was awesome plus there are so many cute pink spots to take photos in the restaurant.
Island Thyme Grill
Address: 2915 Guadalupe St, Austin, TX 78705
If you’re looking for a lunch or dinner spot near University of Texas Austin, I recommend checking out Island Thyme Grill. I ordered the Marley as a rice bowl, chips, and guacamole and it was delicious. Plus, they have this adorable wall!
Cute Nail Studio
Address: 1211 E 7th St, Austin, TX 78702
We didn’t get our nails done but we did snap a photo at this adorable nail studio!
Lola’s Donuts
Address: 2406 Manor Rd Suite B, Austin, TX 78722
We didn’t realize Lola’s Donuts closed at 1pm so when we got here at 3pm, they were already closed. If we get a chance to do another weekend trip to Austin, we’ll definitely come back so we can try a donut!
