It’s officially cherry blossom season in Seattle! Here are seven cherry blossom photoshoot ideas for your upcoming photo shoot.

Spring in the Pacific Northwest is such a special time. The cherry blossoms are among the first flowers around the city. And the great news is that many local Seattle parks and neighborhoods have planted beautiful cherry blossom trees. I’ve been taking photos with the cherry blossoms since I attended the University of Washington. And every year, I look forward to finding new places to discover the cherry blossoms and take more photos.
Here are seven cherry blossom photoshoot ideas for your next photo shoot:
Pose 1: Crouch or kneel on the ground.

You can bring one hand to your head and drop the other arm. This is a great pose to do if you want to show off the cherry blossoms behind you
Photo location: University of Washington The Quad Pierce Ln, Seattle, WA 98195
Pose 2: Turn away from the camera.

I recommend shooting just half your body in the shot and reach one hand to the camera. You can add some movement with a hair flip or hair whip as well.
Photo location: Ballard Corners Park 1702 NW 62nd St, Seattle, WA 98107
Pose 3: Use the cherry blossoms to frame the shot.

Last year, Holly and I stopped by Seward Park in Seattle to see the cherry blossoms. We thought using the cherry blossom branches would make a more exciting shot. I loved how this cherry blossom photo turned out!
Photo location: 5900 Lake Washington Blvd S, Seattle, WA 98118
Pose 4: Sit on the curb – this is great for city or neighborhood cherry blossoms.

If you want to highlight the cherry blossoms down your street or somewhere in the city, sit down on the curb.
Pose 5: Throw your dress in the air.

If you want to pose with a dramatic dress, I recommend throwing your dress into the air. We shot these cherry blossom photos in Seattle last year at the University of Washington Quad.
Photo location: University of Washington The Quad Pierce Ln, Seattle, WA 98195
Pose 6: Run toward the camera

One of my favorite cherry blossom photoshoots took place in 2021. My friend/photographer Jenny Roso and I shot this beautiful wedding terno/Filipiniana gown by Jillian Joy.
Photo location: University of Washington The Quad
Pose 7: Twirl your dress.

Another easy way to add movement to your cherry blossom photoshoot is to twirl your dress.
