Maddy and I had so much fun creating holiday content together last year, so we decided to create Christmas and holiday photo shoot ideas again this year! The holiday season always happens so quickly that this year we thought we would get a head start and bring together our ideas earlier in the season. Whether you’re looking to create a Christmas photo shoot inside or set up a holiday photo shoot outside, this blog post is for you!

Here are 10 Holiday Photo Shoot Ideas:

1.Lay in front of the fireplace

If you’re already decorating your fireplace for the holiday season, use it as a photo shoot spot! Maddy and I thought it would be fun to get Christmas pajamas and layout some Christmas ornaments for this photo. We also thought it would be fun to wear our beanies to get a cozy look.

2. Cheers your hot cocoa

I personally love hot cocoa year-round, but I especially love hot cocoa during the Holidays! A quick photo shoot hack: if you’re worried about spilling hot cocoa for a photo shoot, just fill your mug up with marshmallows!

Maddy and I didn’t want to spill on the white blankets, so we saved our hot cocoa for after the photo shoot.

3. Sit by the Christmas tree

If you’re putting up a tree this year, an easy way to capture some holiday content is to sit by your tree. Maddy and I thought it would be fun to grab some presents and wear our winter beanies for this photo.

4. Bake Christmas cookies

Maddy came to me with this idea! I personally love baking cookies during the holidays, but I never thought it would be a cute photo shoot idea. We grabbed some sugar cookie dough and cookie cutters from the grocery store and Maddy already had the mixing bowl.

5. Sit in the bed of your SUV or truck

Maddy and I originally wanted to take photos with a truck but neither of us have a truck. Her parents let us set up their SUV for this quick holiday photo shoot. We filled the frame with the same white blankets, white pillows, and Christmas presents from the Christmas tree.

6. Go Christmas tree shopping

Last year, Maddy and I stopped by Swanson’s Nursery in Greenwood. It’s one of my favorite places to stop by during the Holiday season! You can pick up a real Christmas tree at this nursery.

7. Ride a sleigh

Swanson’s Nursery also set up this yurt filled with Holiday/Christmas decorations and photo opportunities. We were so excited to see they set up a sleigh!

8. Wrap yourself up in garland

If you’re looking for easy props to use for a Christmas themed photo shoot, use garland! You can actually use this to decorate for Christmas and it helps create a more dynamic photo.

9. Throw Christmas ornaments in the air

I highly recommend not throwing glass ornaments in the air! These plastic ornaments were easy to throw plus Maddy actually uses them to decorate her Christmas tree.

10. Play in the snow

Last year, Maddy and I ventured to Gold Creek Pond in the mountains. It was my first time visiting the alpine lake and it was absolutely beautiful!
