I’ve decided that my favorite season to style outfits for is fall. You can add layers, your favorite boots, jackets, and more. This season I have my eye on platform or lug-sole loafers as well as anything academic aesthetic – think sweater vests and varsity cardigans. I stopped by Nordstrom to see if they had some of my favorite fall trends.

Here are 4 trends I recently picked up at Nordstrom this fall season:

Fall trend #1: Platform or Lug-sole Loafers

One trend that I wasn’t expecting to love as much as I do is the lug-sole loafers. I used to wear loafers when I used to have to go in the office. I worked in the aerospace industry for 6 years and my former company required we wear business casual to work.

Platform or lug-sole loafers are a trendier version of my former loafers.  These 90s inspired loafers are making a hot comeback. The great thing about this trend is you can find it in both luxury and more affordable prices. I personally didn’t splurge on the $800+ Gucci loafers but instead found a more budget friendly pair of loafers for $89 at Nordstrom.

Fall Trend #2: Pleated Skirts

Pleated skirts first started making their comeback last fall and they’re here to stay this fall season. A lot of the major retailers, like Nordstrom, have stocked up on pleated skirts. I personally love this deep green pleated skirt. It’s definitely giving schoolgirl or academic aesthetic vibes.

Fall Trend #3: Mom-jeans, 90s jeans, loose fitting jeans – AKA anything but the skinny jean

Even though I feel like I’ve been wearing loose fitting, mom jeans, boyfriend jeans for the last few years, it seems like this year people have been a bit more vocal on TiKTok about abandoning their skinny jeans. If you love skinny jeans, keep wearing them. Trends are fun to try but remember, your style is unique, and you can pick what pieces and trends work for you.

If you’re excited to try a different pair of jeans, I recommend exploring mom jeans, boyfriend jeans, and even flared jeans. Nordstrom always does a great job of carrying a variety of denim brands.

Fall Trend #4: Academic Aesthetic

If you’re wanting to try the academic aesthetic look, I recommend adding varsity cardigans, sweater vests, and rugby shirts to your wardrobe. I personally have had my eye on rugby or large striped long sleeve shirts at Nordstrom this fall season.
